The Torbay Hub is delighted to be working with Rob Webster - MITA Lead, UCL Institute of Education. Rob has conducted the largest research project into the role of Teaching Assistants in schools. Following on from this, he has developed a Training Programme entitled 'Maximising the Performance of Teaching Assistants' (MPTA). Rob's research  indicates that quality feedback on learning and the development of metacognition skills can boost pupil attainment. This course provides TAs with the skills to scaffold learning and help pupils become confident, independent learners. The course is suitable for Teaching Assistants/Learning Support Assistants and other classroom support staff who support learning. This event is run over two half day sessions: Session 1 on Thursday 7th February (either am or pm) and Session 2 on Thursday 14th March (either am or pm). It allows T.A.s to trial and test new skills through gap tasks, and revisit and consolidate in Session 2.
