My name is Nick Hearn and I have been teaching for 26 years. I began my career as an NQT in a large Primary School in Luton. Since then, I have worked in a variety of counties and different types of Primary schools, both in the state and independent sector.
Following leadership roles in my first 2 schools, I leapt into Headship 17 years ago at an independent school in Bedford. After 9 fantastic years there, I returned to the state system and am currently serving my third Headship in a wonderful primary school in Milton Keynes.
We are proud to be a school built upon Values Based Education, and this aligns exactly with my philosophy of education and how I have conducted and grown my career to date. I pride myself on maintaining a weekly teaching commitment and am a very ‘visible’ Head, knowing the names of my children and being on the school gate every morning. I have recently been working with local teacher training providers, and thoroughly enjoy working with students and NQTs, supporting them as they begin their careers.
I have been involved in the Challenge Partner network for 4 years now, and cannot overemphasise the benefit and value it has added to my school, and to my staff. It is a crucial part of our development as a school and I look forward to further involvement in the future.
