SUSPENSION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEWS
In light of the escalating situation around coronavirus, we have taken the decision to suspend all Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) due to take place before Easter. We will take a decision about QARs scheduled for after Easter before the end of term.
We know that schools value highly the QAR and the opportunity for leaders to go out and review others' schools, but recognise that the challenges we are collectively dealing with will make it difficult, if not impossible, for schools and reviewers to get the most out of the experience. Since yesterday's announcement, schools are facing increases in staff absence and workload around managing this fast-moving situation, not to mention questions about how best to support their pupils and families. Some have already taken the decision to stop staff going out for training and so on.
With so many decisions to make and things to consider at the moment, I imagine many of you will be relieved to have this decision taken out of your hands. I recognise that others of you may be disappointed and I am sorry for that.
If your QAR was due to take place in the period before Easter, we may be able to offer you consultancy with one of our Lead Reviewers during this period if you wish. If you would like to explore this option please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be in touch again before the Easter break about QARs scheduled to happen after the holiday. We will also follow up in due course with all schools affected by the suspension of Quality Assurance Reviews.
I wish you, your families and school communities every success in navigating these uncharted and turbulent waters. If there is anything you feel we can do to support you, please get in touch and we will do our best.
